Copper Acetate Manufacturers proposed the suspensions containing the different CaPs and the copper acetate need to be suitable for the HVSFS process. The solid content of 10 wt% CaP powder was chosen for this study. The materials were dispersed in isopropanol, water, or a mixture thereof. To break up agglomerates and ensure a homogeneous mixing and distribution of the components, the suspensions were milled in an attrition mill using zirconia milling balls with a diameter of 2.0–2.5 mm for 3–5 h, depending on the material. To improve the stability of the suspension and prevent sedimentation in the feeding system, the isopropanol-based suspensions were additionally stabilized with 0.5 wt% based on powder content of an alkyl phosphate dispersing additive, while the aqueous suspensions were dispersed with an ethanolamine salt of citric acid. To incorporate copper in the coatings, a copper acetate monohydrate salt was added to the suspensions.
Copper acetate salt is cheap, easy to handle, and therefore a good choice to reduce in the flame process, forming the desired pure copper and copper oxide aforementioned antibacterial active phases. Moreover, with respect to other copper salts, it possesses a high solubility in both organic and aqueous media and therefore is readily released under the form of copper ions or copper metal complexes in the basic pH ceramic suspensions.
